Yoga literally means “union”. The practices were developed in India to enable the practitioner to achieve union with the ultimate reality. Traditionally included are Asanasa, Yama, Niyama, breathing Pranayamas, mantras, meditation, and specific behavioral restraints. We can do sukshma vyayam as a warmup exercise for our body.
Yoga asanas generally helps make the body strong and flexible. They balance the physical areas of the body by regulating glandular secretions, toning muscles and nerves, massaging internal organs, and improving digestion and circulation. Basic Yoga poses can be performed by women during menstruation, except the Bow. The cat and the butterfly are very helpful during this time for most women.
Yoga Asana should be practiced at a slow pace, deliberately, with each pose being held for 20 seconds or more. If your breath is held during the pose, then the length of time you can comfortably hold your breath determines the length of time you can hold the pose. Breath technique in each pose helps you to gain energy more and make you energetic throughout the day.
As you hold each pose, try to relax as much as possible into the pose. If regularly practiced, this method of asanas is very calming. For a nervous and calm mind before going to a more active form of exercise.
As per our energy, we can practice yoga every day. There is no external force which leads us but totally internal, your own force is developing you from inside. You just need to make a conscious effort to do regular practice.
